Our walking tours are a bit special, and they appeal to the kind of people who don’t want to just be talked at but enjoy a conversation. That’s why we ask you to let us know two or three of your interests, so that we can build something around you.
This means you won’t be joining twenty other people, all following a guide who is reciting a script for the fiftieth time this week. Because of your input, each walk is unique. This obviously takes a little time, so if you’re planning a visit to Edinburgh and would like a personal walking tour, then get in touch with us good and early with your preferred date and your interests, and we’ll do the rest.
The maximum size of a group is six and a walk will generally take around two hours. We can start at your hotel or apartment or meet in the city centre. The cost is £100. If you want to visit somewhere that has an entry charge, this will be added.
For those who arrive in the city but haven’t had the opportunity to contact us in advance, we do have four ready prepared walks, and we can get to know one another as we go along.
- Along the Royal Mile
The characters and closes, heritage and history of the iconic street that links two royal residences.
- Robert Burns in Edinburgh
Discover how Scotland’s greatest poet took the city by storm – and the marks that Edinburgh left on him.
- James Craig – New Town visionary
The New Town is widely regarded as the finest Georgian period city in Europe and a shining example of early town planning. So why is the man who created it almost forgotten?
- Hidden Corners
There are places within a few minutes walk of the city centre that even some of those who have lived in Edinburgh all their lives will never have seen. For those who have a taste for the hidden, the obscure and the almost forgotten.

Many visitors come to Edinburgh because they have a local connection through relatives or ancestors that they may wish to trace. We can help you make the most of your time here by undertaking preliminary research before you arrive, or while you are still planning your visit. The basic cost for this is £30 per hour but we recommend that you get in touch in advance in order that we can give you a realistic estimate according to your needs. Please email us here.
