Really great tour

We chose Our Edinburgh Friends when we met John at our hotel. We had not booked but within 48 hours he had created a tour especially for us (we come from Sweden) telling us about Edinburgh and Scotland and the links between Scotland and Sweden. We never knew that Scottish soldiers fought in the Swedish army! We had set aside two hours to walk but the time went so fast that we spent more than three hours and it did not seem too long.

If you want a really personal tour, then I recommend Our Edinburgh Friends. We had a great, fun and interesting day.

Seeing Edinburgh with fresh eyes

Time really stands still (in a good way!) during one of John’s tours. I could listen to him all day. I could not believe that two and a half hours had passed when it was over.

Our Royal Mile tour was very well paced. There was plenty of time at the beginning to communicate with the group and describe what we might see. During the tour we had plenty of opportunities to ask questions or hear more about a story that had really caught the imagination.

John is very well informed, with a unique ability to tell a story with drama and humour and effortlessly bring the past alive.  I felt that I learned a lot.

He also has a unique ability to tell a story with drama and humour and effortlessly bring the past alive.

I am now seeing Edinburgh with fresh eyes.

I cannot recommend Our Edinburgh Friends highly enough. Book now!

A fun, and informative walk.

We had a great walk with John round the lower reaches of the Royal Mile and Holyrood. Spots you wouldn’t normally visit and stories you wouldn’t normally hear. Informative, witty, entertaining and fun. Brilliant!

Bringing old times to life

Our hotel recommended Our Edinburgh Friends and we were very glad they did. The company got right back to us and asked what kind of things we would enjoy. Two days later John met us with not only a planned out walk but also printed pictures, maps and poems that we got to keep at the end. Two hours was way too short a time and we were so pleased that we wanted to book John again later in the week but sadly he was booked up. If you want a walking tour that really brings to life the old city and the people who lived there, then this is the one to go for. Five stars!

Full of interesting anecdotes

My friend and I thought John was brilliantly informative and full of interesting anecdotes. We were really inspired by it and it was a great way to start our evening together. Despite the constraints on time and light, (we wanted a walk in the evening) it didn’t seem excessively rushed in any way – she was delighted with her birthday treat, and so was I. Thank you.
